Sorry, but there is no upgrade option available from a TPControl device license to TPControl BYOD license, but existing licensed TPControl devices will work with a BYOD licensed NetLinx master in the same way as any unlicensed TPControl devices. The different licensing methods have different merits and are treated as separate products.

If crediting is a service you would like to extend to your customer, and then resell those licenses to other applicable customers, that is certainly an option you can consider as licenses can be deauthorized/transferred to alternate accounts as and when necessary.
